This is Terranea’s own 9-hole, par 3 golf course that is perched on the edge of the Pacific Ocean right here on property. This is a great option if you want to play a quick relaxing game of golf but still take in the beauty of the ocean vistas and fresh coastal air.

Trump National is one of the most renowned golf courses on the West Coast. An 18-hole course designed by Pete Dye delivers ocean views from every hole. There are four Par 5’s, nine Par 4’s and five Par 3 holes to provide a rich mix of challenges for any level of player. Dress code requires closed toe shoes, suitable golf attire and no denim. Rental clubs are available but shoes are not provided.

This is a private country club course designed by William Bell and George C. Thomas, Jr. With ocean views from each hole Palos Verdes Country Club provides exhilarating golf for beginners and pros alike. This is primarily a Par 4 course with two Par 5’s and nine Par 3’s. Public play is allowed Thursday after 1 p.m. Casual dress is accepted.

Distance: 8 miles / 14 minutes

7000 W. Los Verdes Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275

This is one of the most popular public golf courses on the West Coast and one of the most played courses in the U.S. There are ocean views from most holes, and it is considered a very reasonably priced course because it is public. Nonetheless it was professionally designed by William Bell, and this course’s popularity means that it can be difficult to obtain the tee times you prefer. Most holes are Par 4’s but there are also four Par 3’s and four Par 5’s.

Distance: 3.5 miles / 6 minutes drive by car

The 1/2 day trips specialize in bass, barracuda, rock fish, and halibut. You will also have a good chance at catching a yellowtail or a White Sea Bass on the Sea Angler, Monte Carlo or Pursuit. The rich waters in San Pedro and up the coast of Palos Verdes are prime for fishing and offer breathtaking views of the Peninsula.

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn to surf like an expert and learn the official sport of Southern California. Events are coordinated by expert surfers who provide hands-on group training in the water. You will have a 1-2 hour lesson followed by surfing. It’s a safe and positive way of learning the surfing basics, step by step. We will use either Hermosa Beach or Redondo Beach depending on sea conditions on the day. Whether guests actually become a surfer or not, the event is geared toward having fun!

Now is your chance to experience the stunning reefs full of marine life including bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, leopard sharks, and bat rays, all while paddling through the Catalina Channel’s famous underwater reserve. The kayaks are stable so no previous experience is necessary, and much of this area is shallow depth so no deep diving is required. Certified guided tours are done in stable sit-on-top ocean kayaks and include a lesson and all necessary kayak and snorkeling equipment.

Known for its sweeping views and unique ecology, the Portuguese Bend region is one of California’s most memorable ecological finds. Throughout the coastal sage guests may spot an Oran-Crowned Warbler or an Allen’s Hummingbird, both birds found only on the Channel Islands. Guests will receive a printed nature guide and expert hike leader who will guide them through the area. This is a physical activity.

This scenic trail ride will take you through our local Rolling Hills Trails as well as the Nature Preserve, home to a tremendous variety of local flora and fauna. Beautiful horses are expertly guided by witty trail leaders, making this an activity for all ability levels.

This guided mountain bike ride will take you along the Palos Verdes coast with great view points along the way. Once in Lunada Bay guests can take in the sights and sounds of the famous surfing waves crashing on the rocks. Grab a quick cup of coffee, watch the surfers, sightsee in town or just enjoy the ocean views.

Rolling Hills near Palos Verdes

This is the closest shopping center to the hotel. It is an open-air shopping center with covered walkways leading to all stores. Most stores are specialty retailers servicing medium to higher-end clientele. There is no department store but they do have a nice ice skating rink, movie theater and restaurants. Shops include Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, Borders Book Store, Crabtree & Evelyn, Discovery World, Gap, J. Crew, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Talbots, William Sonoma, etc. Transportation is available via taxi or the hotel shuttle depending upon availability. Travel time from the hotel to the shopping center is approximately 10 minutes.   

3525 Carson Street, Torrence, CA

This is a very large diverse shopping mall with over 100 different stores ranging from major department and specialty retail chain stores to mass-market and discount retailers. There are various restaurants and a large movie theater. This is a large mall, so give yourself plenty of time to browse in all the shops. Shops include Aeropostale, Anthropologie, Brookstone, Burlington Coat Outlet, Coach, Disney Store, GNC, H&M, Hollister, J. Jill, JC Penney, Macy’s, Old Navy, T.J. Maxx, Urban Outfitters, Wet Seal, Yes Kids and many more. Transportation is available via taxi, and the travel time is approximately 25 minutes one way. The estimated taxi cost (one way) is approximately $40.  

Redondo Beach

This is a medium-sized mall with a wide variety of well-known stores ranging from high-end department stores like Nordstrom to mass-market retailers like Target. There are also specialty retailers. This is the furthest mall from the hotel, so please watch your time and plan accordingly. Shops include Abercrombie, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bath & Body Works, Brookstone, The Children’s Place, Express (men & women), Gap, GNC, Guess, Kohl’s, Lane Bryant, Lens Crafters (eyeglasses), The Limited, Macy’s, Pac Sun, Nordstrom, Radio Shack, Target, Vans, Victoria's Secret, etc. Transportation is available via taxi, and the travel time is approximately 35 minutes one way.
